Luckily, one Saturday I ended up on Meg’s PT schedule and I can say it changed the trajectory of how I would move past any and all injuries from that day forward. I was rehabbing from surgery number 3 of 7 on my right shoulder and ashamed to say I was having a bit of a pity party that day. Here comes this bright personality that wasn’t having any of that. The next thing I know, we are pushing and pulling a large pole on a half moon piece of styrofoam and throwing/catching bosa balls down a 15 foot hallway. I left that PT session with my head on straight and knowing no matter what, I would redefine my goals and continue to press on. You see, Meg doesn’t only treat the area of injury but the whole person. She walked through four more surgeries with me and taught me, the only way through is through. Meg’s speciality is the underdog. She will not quit, and finds a way to get your mind and body back to the movements you desire. She meets you where you are at and walks step by step with you through the process. A lifelong student of her trade, she is always researching, learning and adapting practices to provide a treatment plan to get you moving. She is the ultimate coach in the treatment room and gym, identifying ways for you to see the progress and push harder to achieve your desired movement. There is not a medical professional I trust more with my recovery plan than Meg. Grateful for her knowledge, approach, and passion to keep you moving forward.

When I had a knee injury that wouldn't quite heal up, I turned to physical therapy to get me back on the right track. For me, my past experiences with PT have been fairly cookie cutter and regimented. Meg is a fantastic listener who genuinely cares about her patient’s well being. My sessions with her felt personal and tailored for my goals as an athlete. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!

Meghen Flaig is by far the best physical therapist I have ever worked with. Often, as our bodies age, it becomes more challenging to stay active and injury free. Meg has helped me over so many obstacles to continue to achieve the fitness goals I am working on. From a bike accident/hip injury, overuse injuries, to a neuroma in my foot, she has kept me moving, improving and happy.

Meghen Flaig has convinced me that I Am Strong. I Am Resilient and I Am Capable of many great things, which was No Small Feat! By 70, I had been treated by many wonderful chiropractors, acupuncturists, PT’s and surgeons for over 40 years, however, negative, pain-related language had colored my mindset and I was always protective of my back and fearful of further injury and pain. Many times I walked into Meg’s office with pain and walked out pain free. With Meg’s carefully chosen words, our shared laughter, her masterful distraction techniques, and her expertly guided and progressive exercises and coping skills I can now bike, hike, enjoy snow sports because I am strong and resilient. I recommend Meg with absolute confidence.

I have seen a lot of PTs over the years and Meg is the absolute best! I worked with Meg pre- and post-hip surgery and she has been instrumental in helping me get back to the activities I love. She really takes the time to listen and understand your goals and her approach is thoughtful and intuitive. She has been incredibly supportive and helped me rebuild confidence and progress toward my goals at a pace that worked for me. It’s easy to see how much Meg cares about her patients and she has been such a joy to work with!

For 40 years I had been seeing a really good Bellingham chiropractor, but only when my back “went out.” But there came a time when even he couldn’t make my back right. My primary doctor promptly said that I needed to see Meghen Flaig, the physical therapist who knew about problems like mine. By that time, I couldn’t walk more than half a block before the pain was too extreme. Within a month of weekly sessions, Meghen had me walking in comfort again. That was from exercises she supervised and homework exercises that I did every day. But it wasn’t entirely physical exercises that got me back on my feet - a lot of it was mental. Meghen has a way of instilling confidence in yourself and what you can do when you set your mind and body to the task. In her cubicle, her attention is so entirely on you that you feel you are the only person in her life. She knows you so well and so quickly that she instinctively knows what will work for your improvement and what won’t. She has deep knowledge of the human body, but also how important the mind is in determining how the body works. So in short, I am ever thankful for Meghen Flaig, for her motivation and skill in showing me how to make myself better. And today, I can say that I’ve not only hiked Machu Picchu, but bike nearly every day, do my extensive program of daily physical therapy exercises and generally experience a pain-free life of physically doing whatever I want.

I was dealing with chronic pain in both of my hands, arms and shoulders. I had seen many different health care providers looking for answers or help and had no luck until I met Meghen. She helped me identify the roots of my pain and taught me tools to reduce it. I am incredibly grateful to have gotten to work with her and I recommend everyone I know in need of a PT her way. She is compassionate, analytical, and listens to what is going on. You can really tell that she genuinely cares about her clients and believes in the value of the work she is doing.

I am 80 years old and when I was 76 I “wrenched” my back while picking up to move a large fully loaded flower container. Ouch! Not getting better after several days, I asked my doctor for a PT referral. I went to a physical therapist for several weeks and followed instructions. After not improving for several months, I went back to my doctor who referred me to a sports therapist. This is when I met Meghen Flaig. I worked with Meghen for several weeks before the pandemic set in and conferred with her via telephone for several weeks after face-to-face therapy ended. I continue to check in with Meghen from time to time just to stay on track because while my injury is in the past, as I age I do experience lower back stiffness and sometimes even discomfort. These have become a part of my life. What Meghen taught me has also become part of my life for what she taught me permits me to resist becoming sedentary.

When I first met with Meghen

    (1) she asked many questions designed to ascertain my overall physical condition as well as my attitudes about pain and physical culture; (2) she assessed my flexibility, balance, and overall strength by observing me while performing exercises that she suggested; and (3) she then suggested that I read a booklet on pain and physical therapy that I downloaded.

Over the next several weeks after our initial one or two sessions, Meghen devised a set of exercises that I was to do daily, exercises that addressed the problems with my lower back. Throughout this process, Meghen emphasized to me that movement and exercise would not further damage my back and would in fact relieve the pain and stiffness. She told me something to the effect, “Remember: You are not going to hurt yourself by moving and exercising in ways to which you are unaccustomed!” THIS was the MOST IMPORTANT THING I LEARNED FROM Meghen because it enabled me to commit myself to the exercise program that she devised for me.

So. What have I learned from Meghen?

    1. Movement and exercise will not injure me further.

    2. Movement and exercise need not take a lot of time.

    3. Movement and exercise, however, needs to be regular.

I walk regularly, I do my Meghen exercises daily, and I am Enduring. How could one ask for anything more from Meghen and ENDURANCE PHYSICAL THERAPY?

I’ve worked with Meghen as a referring physician, and as her patient. She is one of the top three physical therapists I have encountered over a 30 years career in medicine. In addition to broad and deep knowledge and expertise, she has that rare magic of being an intrinsically healing soul in this world. Thanks to her working with me on shoulders, back, neck, elbow, and a variety of other issues, I am able to do what I wish without limitations, and while I still have some pains, they are informative , not distressing, and I know what they are telling me, and what to do about it so I can keep going. I unreservedly give her my strongest recommendation.
